Gandhi Jayanti should be celebrated or not? Most of the Indians are not concerned with whether there should be a celebration or ceremonial functions or not. They are more interested in just another national holiday and no more work for a very long weekend. Since 2nd October is on friday this time it was a bit fun for lot many lazy Indians.
But few famous personalities are not happy with this including reported Barkha Dutt who reports in this news story “Stop the Hypocrisy” that it is not good to salute Gandhiji with just a lazy holiday. She says that “ For a man who spun his own khadi, mopped his bathrooms himself and famously declared work to be the best form of worship, it sure is strange to honour his legacy with yet another lazy holiday.”
May be shashi tharoor has found a new companion, atleast she is with him this time. But another lady with more power is surely not happy about Shashi Tharoor Tweets. Sonia Gandhi has warned him yet again to mind his language but she doesn’t understand the internet lingo shashi has mastered in recent years.
But for a common-man holiday is the only fun in India. And Shashi tharoor has proved yet again that he is the next entertainer from the political arena after Laluprasad Yadav who has entertained the Indian masses for decades now. With out much concerns about the politics and philosophy behind the Gandhi Jayanti take a chill pill and enjoy this weekend.
What ever Shashi Tharoor or Barkha Dutt says we don’t think that there are any other better ways to give tribute to Gandhiji. More holidays will spread a wave of laziness and lazy people can not be violent. So Ultimately the holidays are just a small contribution to the integrated efforts towards world peace and non-violence movement.
