World Cup enters the Knockout stage
In the first quarterfinal of the ICC world cup 2011, Pakistan a favourite team to win the cup now is going to take on two times world champion West Indies at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur in Bangladesh. Though there were no major upsets during the group stages because of the format of the tournament all expected teams entered the knockout stage but now as Pakistan is favourite to win the cup some hard hitting by Windies batsmen like Pollard and Gayle may turn the tables for them.
Pak bans onion export to India
New Delhi government found it really shocking when Pakistan banned export of Onions to India citing reason of price-rise in local markets due to exports. On Thursday auhorities stopped more than 300 trucks of onions carrying 3000 tons of fresh onion for Indian Markets at the Wagah border.
Salman Taseer’s assassination probe
News have arrived from Islamabad/Lahore in Pakistan that the investigators on Thursday probed the possibility of a larger conspiracy political-military nexus in Pakistan behind the killing of Punjab’s Governor Salmaan Taseer by his own bodyguard. So far investigation agency in has conducted many raids arresting 40 people including 36 policemen.
